Dr. Kush Agrawal

Interventional Cardiology

Dr. Kush Agrawal, MD, FACC, RPVI is a board certified Interventional Cardiologist who has been practicing in the Valley since 2016. He joined Atria Heart in March of 2020.

Dr. Agrawal grew up in Mississippi surrounded by a family of physicians, and knew at a very young age this was his calling. He has trained across the country in several prestigious programs, having completed an undergraduate degree in Biology and Biochemistry with honors at Duke University and medical school at the University of Mississippi participating in vascular biology research in the the world-renowned Guyton and Hall Biophysics Laboratory while there.

He completed his internship and residency at Emory University and Grady hospital in Atlanta, grateful for the exposure to a large, urban, safety hospital system. Dr. Agrawal then went on to complete his cardiology and interventional cardiology training at Boston University Medical Center, with partial combined training at Brigham and Women’s (Harvard) Medical Center and the Boston VA.

His newly minted genuine passion for advanced and complex coronary, structural and endovascular intervention led him to seek additional training as part of the prestigious Vascular Interventional Advances (VIVA) fellowship, serving as an advanced fellow in Mountain View, California under the tutelage of Dr. Jim Joye, DO, while also participating in the Stanford Biodesign Program as well as the Fogarty Innovation Institute while there. His VIVA fellowship was completed in Kingsport, Tennessee under the mentorship of Dr. D. Chris Metzger, MD, where he participated in the training of fellows from Massachusetts General Hospital in carotid artery stenting techniques.

This afforded him expertise in performing complex, high-risk coronary, peripheral (including limb salvage, endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, carotid stenting) and structural heart interventions (including ASD/PFO closure, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVR) and the Mitraclip procedure). He has numerous high-impact journal as well as textbook chapter publications, but has the deepest respect for original investigation and discovery. He has been a sub-investigator in the CREST-2 Carotid Stent and the ABSORB IV Bioabsorbable Stent Trials. He was awarded the prestigious Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) designation in 2018.

Dr. Agrawal has been in practice in Arizona since 2016, having successfully performed numerous high risk heart and vascular procedures. Hospital privileges include Honor Health Thompson Peak, Shea, and Osborn hospitals.
